BARB Releases Parallel Run Data - December 2001

BARB together with ATR UK will launch its new service as of 6am on 1st January 2002, based on an entirely new and larger panel.

Comparisons between the current and the new panel, based on "live" viewing data, to allow for an evaluation based on the most recent two weeks of data, confirm the new panel's sample efficiencies and its overall panel balance.

ATR Australia optimistic of new service

ATR Australia has expressed optimism at the decision of the Regional Broadcasters Tender Committee, due within the next two weeks. "The signs are very encouraging. Since the submission of our proposal, we've worked closely with the Committee, responding to their queries and building the foundation of what we hope will be a long and rewarding relationship for all concerned," said Warwick Hoare, CEO.

Auditel & AGB Italia update panel with TVM4 Generation Meters

These improvements have been achieved both in the representative panel and even more importantly regarding our technological capabilities. Thanks to the recent developments resulting in a new generation of peoplemeters, the TVM4, which are currently replacing the older generation models, we are ready to face the challenge of measurement represented by the new broadcasting platforms, and in the near future we will be able to measure even the consumption linked to every interactive application" commented Auditel’s General Manager Walter Pancini to inquries made by the Italian Telecommunications Authority regarding the current panel's capabilites of audience measurement in light of the new broadcasting developments.

Australian Ratings Year ends

Last week was the final week of the official Australian Ratings Survey Year with all networks rushing to publish their annual reports by Monday morning, a task made easier for those using the full functionality and speed of TeleMonitor. All commercial metropolitan networks have now confirmed that they will be licensing the AGB Workstation from 2002 and contracts for 350+ Users will be finalised by year-end, commented Antonella Petra, Managing Director of ATR Australia.

AGB's TVM4 Peoplemeter - measurement of new broadcast developments

The new ATR UK People meter service of measurement is able to measure all current platforms, even those where there is no direct compliance, as the digital cable platform. Existing capabilities include its ability to measure the likely broadcast developments such as interactivity, electronic programme guides and many others.

Automatic Spot Recognition – Improved spot database efficiency & quality.

TV Events Manager, Francesco Rossi, commented that this system, based on a video pattern recognition algorithm, allowing the system to automatically classify old/repeat spots ‘ has no doubt improved the efficiency, production time and quality of the database archive, which is then available to the user first thing the following morning, after broadcasting’.
