OzTAM, the official supplier of metropolitan television audience ratings data in Australia, and Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) announced on the 13th June 2003, the much-anticipated inclusion of subscription TV in the OzTAM ratings database.
As of 1st August 2003, OzTAM’s service provider ATR Australia, will extend its TAM data provision to include subscription TV ratings, making it the sole supplier of TV ratings in the Australian market.
OzTAM CEO, Louise McCann said "never before have our clients been able to fully analyse viewing of subscription channels on the same basis as they do currently for free-to-air."
Subscription TV which collects some $70 million a year in advertising is becoming an increasingly integral part of any television advertising strategy. The initial service including subscription TV will commence in August as part of the metro data with 3000 homes and for national subscription data with 1000 subscription homes.
